although i already knew most of the fenway facts (my popu would be proud) I did learn that original name of the team was the Boston Americans. another fun fact stored- bring it trivia!

i also learned that despite my strong, immense, burning desire for red sox silly bands i do infact have some self control and refrained from waiting in line with five year olds- go me! (but if you want to buy them for me as a gift I won't object...)

girls night at the duck and bunny Tuesday was wonderful- I'm going to miss my sugar lovin bocce partner Mallory soooo much! (but can't wait to visit her down south- woo)

the food was delicious and the garden was lovely to dine in- this would be perfect for a birthday or bridal/baby shower.

what was not lovely- our waitress. she was either high, drunk, or mentally challenged. or maybe a bit of all three. id tell you all about it but missie started her own providence restaurant review blog!!! love it (check it out at missierosie.blogspot.com!) so glad we can now eat AND blog together. go read her duck and bunny review for the full story, follow her shizz and let anyone you know in rhode island to check it out! totally (b)log approved.

lots of food later we hit up the hot club (heck yeah) for a beer courtesy of tr and enjoyed the nice night on the water!

although I might not recommend either place to anyone- it was lots of fun and im so glad we could all get together for some quality girl time before mals big move. (so excited for her- nothin beats packin up and moving someplace totally new! brought back the good tingles from my first few months here)

sorry this chickadee has been mia- me and the familia have been hitting the bean hard! full update later but here's a quickie rundownnn:

we started off today at mike and pattys in bay village- holy egg fancy. this sandwich was chock full of bacon, avocado (nuff said), cheese, egg and spicy mayo. i. died.

then before operation: get b&b out of the cube and into a, er, bigger cube began we toured trinity church. gorg! def the church you wanna stroll down in a big ol white dress. (I also liked that they sold a shirt that said "free wine on Sundays")

the operation unfortunately continues tomorrow but no worries! after a quick finagle we got our quack on on a duck boat tour. things I learned: paul revere was a manwhore with 16 kids and although I already knew I loved that dirty water- I learned why it was oh so dirtay. I also learned duck boats are probably goin down because they let 2 year olds drive them- like for real. I had my lifevest ready. see that small head in the seat? something tells me he doesn't have his boating license- or the ability to tie his own shoes.

oh and I also learned four square has quite the sense of humor...

all the water and sunshine calls for lobstahhh. had a feast at the barking crab- steamers, clams, crabs, and lobbys! (note how excited the 13 year old is in all pics)

strolled around fanieul hall, partook in a street performance (a street dancer literally did a backflip over me- happens to me all the time) but unfortunately my bro has the pic of that (I was too busy trying to not get a roundhouse to the face) and I finally got to see the giant noodle! (although a better picture is needed- my mother has zero concept of a good angle.)

busy day tomorrow too so I'm off! promise to give a full update later but for now im enjoying good food, my wonderful family, and the sunshine in this amazing city I've made my home!

so i need to go grocery shopping like whoa. but after lugging home the kibber i was in no mood! rummaged around and decided to make a mosh posh-ta for dinner tonight.

used third of a bag of tjs amazing- and cheap!- frozen harvest hodgepodge (mushrooms, corn, peppers, waterchestnuts, broccoli, carrots, onion, peas), some tomato sauce, cooked pasta and shredded parm. came out really delic!) thanks joey for pullin through again. and at $2.99 a bag you really can't beat that!

went to brunch at cafe gitame with miss gitty. hands down one of my favorite places ive been in the city!we split an order of the avocado, lemon juice, olive oil and chili flakes on a piece of seven grain bread (amazing- recreating at home for sure) and then I got the cucumber mint yogurt salad with hummus and pita. it was the perfect summer dish!

so full (but my magnolia cupcake is calling my nameeee!)

*and so excited mg got a brandddddd newwwwww iPhone! (and yes we facetimed from different rooms) I am jealous though that on her way back from getting it this morning (i decided to sleep in) she was in the elevator with penn and blake (ie dan and serena) !!!!! i may wander the hall and try to run into them. and hopefully chuck bass.

muhammad ali has reincarnated in the shape of a white fat sea lion polar bear kitty named buster. buster has got into a bad habit of punching me in the face with his little paw for food accompanied by a "im dying of hunger" meow. it started happening once at 6 am, which i was ok with because thats about the time i get up for work anyways. good kitty making sure mommy wakes up...

but then it turned into 5:30 am then 5 am... so i decided to just give his big ol belly an extra scoop of food before i went to bed so he wouldnt bother me. nom nom nom. but did it work? no no no. he just ate it all and still woke me up for more.

but last night buster got smart. he realized if he hits me i will give him food. so he decided to hit me about every hour and a half for more food. after the second time i pushed him off the bed, said no, but he kept punching me and then running to the closet where the food was, trying to scratch through the wood furiously with all his might. for sleeps sake, i gave in.

...but dont worry. i got my revenge. buster didnt get much sleep this morning, despite his glares, while i got ready for work. the blow driers a magical thing...

loving runkeeper for the iPhone! you may remember I wanted to get that garmin watch... well the eatser bunny never brought it but that's ok now that I have runkeeper!

this free appy tracks your runs on gmaps and shows you your average pace and current pace. the only downfall- you have to run with your phone. i put mine in a plastic bag since I knew id be a sweaty beast in this humidity and am trying to not kill my phone (my coworkers laughed at me cause i keep it in a case, in a sock, in my bag...) it was a little awkward to run with but not bad!

what was bad was how dead i was after 4 miles! cannot run in the heatttt. (pace was better though)

(i also don't think that calorie count is very accurate- i usually just assume 100 cals per mile)

ill blow a vuvuzela to not hearing a vuvuzela for another four years.

picked up these snikiddy all natural pizza puffs at shaws today. these spicy little cheese puffs taste like cheese balls and a celeste frozen pizza had a love child. they boast no corn syrup or hydrogenated oils and only 110 for 1/4 of the bag (alot o puffs!) def recommend! they also come in a grilled cheese flavor- yummy.

so i heard about this new sinless margarita mix that is supposed to be killer! it only has 5 calories per serving, is sugar free (made with stevia), and uses all natural ingredients. sounds fab right?

only downer- they dont currently sell it in mass (boo) but they do, however sell it in atlanta and charlotte... so if one of you lovely readers happens to pick this up and try it please let me know how it is!

update: had a spectacular night and even made a new dg friend! as for the meal- the four of us split two pitchers of margaritas (quite delicious, and on the rocks- the way i like it!), an order of chips and salsa (which does not come on the table- kind of a letdown) and then kelsey and sarah both got taco salads while carolyn and myself each ordered ~~two~~ four tacos (they are small. id say two of their tacos are equivalent to one normal taco.) you can chose from chicken or pork- i got the chicken, carolyn got two of each. really tasty, not your average beans and lettuce taco. id definitely go back for dollar tuesdays- but maybe not if im just craving tacos (ill stick with el dorado or annas for that! im more of a traditionalist.) the tab for all of us came to $84 dollars- not bad at all!

i for one am absolutely awful about wearing a seatbelt (as a passenger, always buckled up as a driver) especially now that im rarely in a car. my uncle sent me this video last night and i wont lie- i definitely teared up. it's official: if I eat anything else this weekend I'm going to explode. just had some froyo in attempt to cool off- now i just feel like ill. although i dont recommend consuming all the food i have- one really delic and easy treat were these coconut lime mussels.

put one can Goya coconut water (I like goyas because it has chunks of coconut in it), one tablespoon lime juice, and half a tablespoon of chili paste (or chili flakes) in a large pot. bring to a boil. add cleaned mussels, cover, and let cook for 4-6 minutes or until shells open.

high in protein and flavor- fill up on these suckers!

anyone have good app recs for me?! so far ive got echofon for my twitter and i like it- i didnt like the twitter app itself because you couldnt comment on retweets (and whats the fun of that?!)

but MOST IMPORTANTLY- how on earth do i get text to show up when i send blog posts from my phone? i did it the way i normally used to via email on my blackberry and only the cute pic of bustycat showed up online... help help help!

so proud of us- we did it!! not sure my exact time, but i think its just under 2:10. (which given the crazy hills i am so ok with that!) mile 10 was rough- but mile 5 was soooo steep! oh well done done done!

did my last run before the race last night and decided to run around BC because i knew there was a decent sized hill. unfortunately it wasnt as nearly as steep as the one at mile 10 on sunday, and i may have been a big sweaty beast by the time i got to the top, and i may have been running slow- but i did it. so bring it on, sunday, bring it. i won't lie- i LOVED trolls. i had big ones, small ones, naked bejeweled ones, one that had a pretty pink dress, and my favorite- a plastic chain necklace with 10 baby polly pocket sized trolls hanging from it. i gave them out in goody bags at my birthday party and im pretty sure i threw a fit until i got one too. (and got a pink one.) i know i have a pic of me wearing it- mission next time i go home is to scan it in (unless my mother figures out how.)

i believe im also wearing a screen printed t shirt with my face on it that says "future miss america" in puffy paint. HOT. but i might be meshing birthdays...

but yeah:

Hey Hannah here still reporting from the DG Convention final banquet and boy am I excited. Two descendents of Anna Boyd Ellington are here tonight to help present the Founders Award. Franci Boyd Agajanian, Alpha Nu‐USC, and her Delta Gamma daughter Amy, also from Alpha Nu chapter.The Founders Award recognizes collegiate chapters for reaching levels of excellence with outstanding programming by fostering high ideals of friendship among college women; promoting their educational and cultural interests; creating in them a true sense of social responsibility; and developing in them the best qualities of character.

The Division I (chapters with up to 65 members) winner Gamma Pi-Roanoke successfully integrated its new member class into the chapter by organizing meaningful firesides with each class focused around a theme. They also mastered multi‐purpose programming. They organized a cup cake decorating sisterhood event and then presented the cupcakes to their advisers as a way to say thank you!

so i found an elevation map of the half marathon on sunday- holy mile 10... the rest of it look okkk but thats one pretty steep hill. ~~im going to die.~~ it should be interesting.

going to do my last run before the race tonight- might try and run around bc to get some practice hill work in but at this point im just gonna hope for the best! i really wanted to finish in 2 hours or under- but im thinking this may detour that a wee bit. BAH.

as mentioned below- we scarfed down this dip at the lobster bake in about 10 minutes. it was so delicious and refreshing, perfect for any summer get together! it worked great with those little scoop tortilla chips so you can get lots and lots of goodness in each bite, but i wont lie, it would be good on just about anything!

kelseys d-g-licious dip

1 avocado, diced

1 red onion, diced

1 tomato, diced

1 can black beans

1 can yellow corn

1 small can black olives

1 pack of Good Times Italian Seasoning

1/3 cup olive oil

1/4 cup red wine vinegar

mix all together in a big bowl and enjoy!

like i said, im obsessed with trader joes now. so much infact, i had to go back last night to pick up those corndogs (which were about $3 less a box than the morningstars! woo!) and some brown rice fruit sweetened bread (soooo good.) while i was there i decided i was feeling some mejicano deliciousness.

bought some 94/6 extra lean ground beef, a package of trader joes taco seasoning, a package of their fresh hot salsa, a can of refried black beans with jalapeno, low fat sour cream, arugula (which was very lemon peppery- perfect for the salad), a shredded three cheese blend and some corn tortillas.

for the salad- i used half a pound of the ground beef and sauteed it over high heat with half of the taco seasoning pack. while this was cooking i assembled the salad base- arugula and then a little blob of everything else mentioned above.

i also decided to make the tortillas into chips! i heat up my oven to 450 and put the tortilla quarters (ripped by hand) onto a foil lined baking sheet sprayed with pam. also sprayed each chip with pam, drizzled a little lime juice onto them, and then some fresh sea salt. i didnt set a timer (just kept an eye on them and pull them out when they reach the color you like) but my guess is maybe 7-10 minutes.

ive tried doing this with flour tortilla chips before and they always come out not so appetizing- but these browned up nice and had a great crisp to them!

this made enough for a generous dinner portion (see above) and a good sized lunch (cannot wait to eat it already!) id say this took 15 minutes from start to finish and was super satisfying, super healthy, and super delic!

never met a feta i didnt like.

i live in a food bermuda triangle- shaws one mile east, whole foods one mile west, and trader joes on mile south. with shaws having its super bargains and whole foods having its delicious cheeses and prepared foods, poor joe usually gets forgotten. but after my last trip- he wont be anymore!

here are some of my favorite things i picked up:

-light feta: YUM. perfect salad topper or omelet mix in. and at 40 calories you dont have to feel guilty!

-greek yogurt: significantly less expensive than fage and just as yummy!

-salmon burgers: you can cook these guys from frozen in under 10 minutes and they are pretty good! i ate mine with a garlic lemon aioli, but matty suggests eating it on a bagel with herb cream cheese and caper. cant wait to try that!

-prepackaged brown rice sushi: sure its nothing fabulous, but it made for a quick and easy healthy (& cheap) lunch!

-mission street hefeweisen: at 2.99 for a big bottle this was a delicious refreshing treat after dinner.

-dark chocolate pomegranate seeds: havent tried these yet, but im excited!

i also read today that trader joes carries the meatless corn dogs! WOO! ive been so bummed since morning star stopped making theirs so i will be headed back to tjs soon. anything else i should pick up? let me know your favs!

this past weekend the lovely boston alumnae chapter of dg headed out to cape cod to stuff our pretty little faces with lobster and catch some serious rays. it was an unbelievable day- the weather was absolutely perfect! we had a great time and it was so nice to see some of the girls i had met before, and to meet some new sisters. we went to the house in chatham first, ate lots and lots of grub (i think eating is a prerequisite to be a dg), walked on the beach, then hit up downtown. unfortunately my camera is slightly out of commission so i snagged a few from ali!

when i was in middle school i ate my first lobster- and ended up in the hospital. not cool. long story short i got tested and the doctor said that it was a bad lobster and that i can actually eat those silly little sea bugs.

ive been too nervous to try but with a dg lobster bake on the cape this weekend i figured might as well bite the bullet! so today for lunch t and i headed over to james hook & co. to test my luck.

i was alittle nervous, wont lie, but t was ontop of it incase i went down. luckily we enjoyed our lunch and i am still alive! (although my throat does feel funny... but i think its more anxiety than anything.)

...but BIZZARO- i went to update my twitter status and a tweet popped up saying it was national lobster day! AH! what are the chances?! i think its a sign it was meant to be...

and yes, i liked it, although i think a crab cake sammy or clam roll might still win my order at a seafood shanty. ill have to see how i feel about it straight up with buttah...

*im super nervous about having to crack open my own this weekend. help! any good pointers?

i finally saw sex and the city 2. without giving any deets away heres my run down:

movie number one:
-cried three times
-one heart attack
-a few good laughs
-introducing j.hud made me mad
-overall LOVED it! (big & carrie married- helloooooo)

movie number two:
-cried once
-two heart attacks
-lots of laughs
-liked the new spin on the fours personalities
-overall LOVED it! (cant tell the end- but you can guess)

so so so different. right now im thinking number one still might claim more dvd time because it was the huge moment id been waiting for- but ill be purchasing this one, no doubt. i want the ending quote to get posted online so bad- i loved it.

i say ignore the critics and see it. its not going to win any oscars, but you'll have fun spending time with your four old girlfriends (and go into major shoe/clothes envy.)
